Joel G Chatterson, DVM
Dr. Joel Chatterson has an undergraduate degree from Western Washington University, and received his veterinary medicine degree from the Ross University School of Veterinary Medicine, which is where he met his wife Cassy. He and Cassy married soon after their graduation in 2003. After practicing for a short time in the Midwest, the Chattersons moved back to the Pacific Northwest, where Dr. Chatterson joined Mukilteo Veterinary Hospital in 2009. In March of 2015, Dr. Chatterson was proud to become the owner of Mukilteo Veterinary Hospital.
When he is not busy taking care of Mukilteo's fuzzy population, Dr. Chatterson enjoys skiing, hiking, playing with his kids, practicing his guitar. Every couple of years, he loves taking his family to visit their friend Mickey Mouse in California or Florida. The Chattersons also absolutely love to visit Bellingham and Fairhaven. They spend many weekends there visiting parks and trying various eclectic restaurants.
Dr. Chatterson has two boys, Keaton and Nolan. Keaton is a Lego maniac and will likely be an architect (or space ship builder). Nolan loves everything (especially his dog Furgie), and we suspect he could very well be a little vet in training!
The furry portion of the Chatterson family includes Furgie, a lovely Irish Doodle, who is Dr. Chatterson’s co-pilot at the hospital (and anywhere else), and two cats, Leo and Aries, who enjoy sleeping 23 and ½ hours per day.
Jeff D Dahl, DVM, B
Hello. I'm Doctor Dahl. I was born and raised in Mountlake Terrace. I graduated from MLT High School, then did my undergraduate and professional schooling at Washington State University. I received my bachelor's degree in Veterinary Science in 1985, followed by my Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine in 1988. I've been working at the Mukilteo Veterinary Hospital since 1991.
I enjoy spending time hiking in the mountains with my greyhound Kairos, whom you may occasionally see meandering around the veterinary hospital. I spend my spare time golfing, reading, doing photography, and frequenting some local dog parks with a few greyhounds. I very much enjoy seeing people interacting positively with their pets, be they big or small.
I am on the Technical Rescue Team for the Washington State Animal Response Team. We deploy to rescue dogs when they fall over a cliff while hiking, or horses and livestock that may be trapped in mud or have fallen into a ravine. It can be difficult work, but is very rewarding.
I am a secular humanist; I have also been a strict vegetarian for over 35 years. These 2 facts probably tell the most about who I am and how I think. I welcome any and all questions and discussion about evidence-based veterinary medicine and pet nutrition.
Melanie, Practice Manager
Melanie has been in the veterinary field since 1998 and has been with Mukilteo Veterinary Hospital since 2008. Melanie and her husband Nate live in Everett with their two sons, Chance and Elijah, and enjoy spending their spare time camping, hiking and just being outside. Melanie has two dogs, Timber and Buster, and one cat, Little Man.
Liz, Client Care Representative
Liz has been in the veterinary field since 2004 and joined the practice in 2008. She has had many pets over the years, but currently only has one, a spunky long-haired orange tabby named Chaos. Liz has learned to be careful when eating around Chaos, as he learned to be the sneakiest of food stealers! His favorite is freshly popped popcorn. Both Liz and Chaos enjoy lounging on the couch on stormy nights and bathing in the sun on warm summer afternoons. Spending time with family and friends is their favorite past time.
Kelsey, Veterinary Assistant
Kelsey joined the practice in 2010. She is owned by an energetic border collie named Izzy. Izzy also has two Kitties, Sushi II and Kitt-Katt. For fun Izzy and Kelsey like to hang out with family and friends as well as go to the barn to tend to and hang out with her old man horse, Wren.
Trish, Veterinary Assistant
Trish joined the family in April of 2016. She grew up in California, raised 3 boys, then finally went back to college to become a veterinary assistant. Trish has 2 dogs, Cap'n Jack and Shadow, a kitten named Sparrow, and a snake named Piglet. When not at work, she loves to garden, read, camp, and be with family which includes her pets.

In my spare time I love hiking, cooking, reading, thrift store shopping, and spending time with my dog child, Luna.
